Neuro-Acupuncture

A specialized focus within Idalee's practice for people living with traumatic brain injury and related neurological concerns.

Neuro-Acupuncture, or scalp acupuncture, is a contemporary acupuncture method. It draws on the theories of Traditional Chinese Medicine, and its clinical application is based on modern knowledge of Western biomedical anatomy and physiology of the brain.

Idalee received her training in Neuro-Acupuncture at the Neuro-Acupuncture Institute under the guidance of Jason Hao and his faculty. Dr. Hao received his professional training directly from Jiao Shun-fa, the founder of Chinese scalp acupuncture, and from Sun Shen-tian and Yu Zhi-shun, renowned professors of scalp-acupuncture research and development.

Neuro-Acupuncture uses specific areas of the scalp to access the central nervous and endocrine systems and the structural, metabolic, hormonal, and energetic functions of the brain. Practitioners stimulate these reflex areas through special manipulation to regulate and harmonize the functional activities of the brain and body.

Contraindications

Scalp acupuncture is contraindicated for those with very high blood pressure (220/120), infections or postoperative scars in the acupuncture area, certain pregnancy conditions (including habitual miscarriage), people who are extremely nervous, and infants whose fontanels have not closed.
